A year-round book festival dedicated to great conversations with today's best writers.

Ushering: Fortunately for the National Writer Series, Barbara Disborough coordinates and trains ushers for all events at the City Opera House, including that of the National Writers Series. If you are interested in volunteering as an usher at any of our events, please give her a call at 421-5562 or email her at ellives@aye.net .

Running a flip-cam: Have a natural knack for talking to people and socializing? NWS uses flip-cams to get audience feedback and reactions pre- and post-event. This involves getting color shots and comments from an evening event.

Posters: We have about five different areas in and around Traverse City where we need posters put up and take old posters taken down. We’d like to broaden the effort to out-county areas.

Delivering promotional materials: NWS wants to spread the word about our amazing events to visitors and guests in our area. Volunteers would drop off material to motels, hotels and area bookstores and help get the word out to visiting tourists just before a NWS event.

Assistance with event book and merchandise sales: NWS now has merchandise and we’re looking for volunteers to help us run our merchandise table.

School outreach:  This involves visiting our rural schools to let teachers and students know about our scholarship program. Bob Eichenlaub heads up this effort. Please email him at beichenlaub1@yahoo.com.
