Local Bookstores

Horizon Bookstore – 243 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49684 – (231) 946-7290

Horizon Books was established in 1961 and is still family owned and operated.  That amounts to nearly 50 years of bookselling in downtown Traverse City.  In that time they’ve grown to three locations in Northern Michigan: retrofitting a JC Penney building in Traverse City, the Milliken’s department store in downtown Cadillac and doubling our size in downtown Petoskey.  All of their stores have cozy fireplaces, coffee bars, long hours and are in downtown locations.

Brilliant Books – 305 St. Joseph Street, Suttons Bay, MI 49682 – (231) 271-7323

As a full service independent bookstore Brilliant Books has all the latest paperback and hardcover best sellers, as well as each month’s IndieNext picks, the favorite books of indie booksellers across the country.  They also stock an impressive selection of Children and Young Adult books and a huge range of classics. They can find pretty much any book you need if it isn’t immediately on their shelves.
